Inspection of installing HED: MoEP UM inspected installing Hydraulic Elevator Dam

Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun accompanied by the Deputy Minister U Aye Kyaw and officials inspected the status of installing Hydraulic Elevator Dam (HED) at the spillway of Paung Laung Hydro-Electric Power Plant in Zayyarthiri Township in the morning on 22nd June.

First, the Union Minister and party arrived at the Dant of Paung Laung Hydro-Electric Power Plant and the responsible officials from the Department of Irrigation and Water Management clarified the 80% completion of installing Hydraulic Elevator Dam (HED) at the spillway of Paung Laung Dam and action plans to complete fully within the scheduled time.

In responding to the clarifications, the Union Minister instructed to make collective exerted effort to complete installing Hydraulic Elevator Dam (HED) within the scheduled time, safety of worksite and meeting quality specifications of the project works and inspected the status of 80% completion of installing Hydraulic Elevator Dam (HED) at the spillway of Paung Laung Dam, condition of the inflow of water, water storage and strength of the Dam.

By installing Hydraulic Elevator Dam (HED) which is 140.5 meter long and 1.5-meter High at the spillway of Paung Laung Dam, the amount of water storage can be raised more about 21, 000-acre feet from 5.49 Lakhs acre feet to 5.70 Lakhs acre feet and the original annual electricity generation units will be enabled to enhance more 8 million units from 911 units to 919 units.

At the moment, the construction project has been completed at 80% and the efforts are being made to complete entire project at the end of July, 2024, it’s learnt.
