Inspection of hospitals: MoH UM inspected hospitals in Nay Pyi Taw

Union Minister for Health, Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win accompanied by Deputy Minister Professor Dr. Aye Tun and officials, visited the Nay Pyi Taw People’s Hospital (1000-bed) in the afternoon on April 13.

The Union Minister personally greeted and encouraged earthquake-affected patients and injured individuals, offering words of comfort. He instructed officials to urgently inspect the hospital’s buildings and wards in collaboration with relevant departments to assess structural stability, damage levels, and usability.

The Union Minister then proceeded to Shwe Kyar Pin Temporary Hospital, where he warmly interacted with patients. He provided crutches, quad canes, and a wheelchair to those with leg, arm, and spinal injuries, including a patient who had both legs amputated due to the earthquake.

At the hospital, the Union Minister observed medical relief operations conducted by Samaritan’s Purse International Relief (USA) for both inpatient and outpatient earthquake victims. He discussed necessary support measures with officials to enhance care delivery.

Later, the Union Minister and officials visited Paung Laung Temporary Hospital, where joint medical teams including Myanmar Armed Forces Medical Corps, Ministry of Health teams, Bhutanese medical teams, and Rapid Response Teams, are providing healthcare services. 

He distributed crutches and quad canes to patients with limb and spinal injuries, offering encouragement and support. The minister also inquired about staff welfare and coordinated with officials to address their needs.
