The Kayah State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin, accompanied by members of state government and responsible officials, conducted an inspection in the morning on 2nd September to assess the impact of rising water levels in the Balu Creek, the flooded residential areas in Namkut Ward, as well as the Yay-See-Gway, the Daw-noe Bridge, the Shan Paing Bridge, and the Kandarawadi Bridge due to the rising water levels of Balu Creek.Firstly, the Chief Minister and officials inspected some residences in Namkut Ward to assess the situation where Bilu Creek water had entered homes.

They reviewed the measures taken by relevant authorities and local residents to prevent further water ingress into the homes. They also provided cash assistance to the fire brigade members who are prepared for rescue operations.Subsequently, the Chief Minister and officials visited the Namkut Ward, Yay-See-Gway, Daw-noe Bridge, the Shan Paing Bridge, and the Kandarawadi Bridge.

They evaluated the rising water levels and checked the integrity of the embankments designed to prevent flooding. They assessed the efforts of the military, Myanmar Police Force, and fire brigades, as well as local residents, in using sandbags and constructing embankments to prevent further water ingress.

They also reviewed the arrangements for 24-hour water monitoring and instructed that if water levels exceed safety thresholds, immediate action should be taken without waiting for orders. They emphasized the importance of promptly issuing warnings to the public and carrying out emergency response activities.In Loikaw, due to the rising water levels in Balu Creek, there are currently 144 homes in 4 wards experiencing water ingress.

In preparation for possible further increases in water levels, 4 temporary shelters have been established. Additionally, to ensure preparedness for potential water-related emergencies, a disaster management office has been set up within the state government office complex. This office will facilitate the management of any emergencies and ensure immediate response in case of further developments.
