Inspection of clearance efforts: Sagaing Region CM inspected debris clearance efforts

Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw, Lt-Gen. Thet Pon from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), and officials arrived at the Laykyun Man Aung Pagoda in Sagaing on April 22. They consulted on religious matters with the Dhamma Duta Sayadaw Ashin Hsekinda , before jointly inspecting the pagoda, which was damaged in the Mandalay earthquake. They coordinated necessary actions with responsible personnel to quickly clear debris and begin restoration of the damaged pagoda.

After that, the Chief Minister, the Lieutenant General, and officials visited the Ma-Shi-Kha-Na Pagoda and Maha Ceti Pagoda in Sagaing, both of which suffered damage and collapse due to the earthquake. They observed the ongoing debris clearance efforts, which involved military personnel, Myanmar police force members, firefighters, and members of civil society organizations.

Next, the group visited the Saku-Hmaw earthquake relief camp, where they provided food supplies and other necessities to the affected people. They personally spoke with the victims, offering words of encouragement and support.

The Chief Minister and officials also visited residential buildings in Sagaing city that had collapsed due to the earthquake. They oversaw the debris removal operations and inspected damage at Dhat-Paung-Ceti Gandhakuti Taik Pagoda. Additionally, they examined dangerous market buildings within the central market area, coordinated with authorities for their urgent clearance, and worked toward reopening the market as soon as possible.

Similarly, in the evening of April 21, the Chief Minister, the Lieutenant General, and officials visited the heavily damaged Swan Oo Ponnya Shin Pagoda on Sagaing Hill. They consulted on religious matters with Sitagu Sayadawgyi and Dhamma Duta Sayadaw Ashin Hsekinda and inspected both the pagoda and associated religious buildings that were damaged by the earthquake.

Following this, the Chief Minister and officials inspected damage to various government office buildings and staff housing in Sagaing city. They coordinated restoration efforts with relevant departments and expressed support and encouragement to the civil servants affected by the earthquake.
