






Union Minister for Health, Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win, together with officials, inspected the construction progress of the Myanmar Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Health Staff Training Center on Saturday.
During the meeting with officials, the Union Minister emphasized the project's significance in preparing and responding to public health emergencies, including COVID-19, as well as fostering cooperation on other health-related issues. He stressed the importance of timely project completion.
Then, the officials provided updates on work implementation, future plans, the installation of laboratory equipment, and the training of health staff in China. Following the meeting, the Union Minister and party inspected the construction site.
The Myanmar CDC and Health Staff Training Center are currently under construction in Deckhina Thiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, and are a joint effort between the Ministry of Health and the Government of China, symbolizing the friendship.
The Center's objectives include conducting international standard disease control and research activities in Southeast Asia and establishing a human resource development center for the health sector.
The facilities represent an investment of about 400 million yuan and will feature international standard laboratories, including Biosafety Level-3 laboratories, a three-story disease control building, a three-story training facility capable of accommodating around 400 trainees, and a two-story administrative building. Construction began in early 2021, and as of now, about 70% of the construction work has been completed.
