Innovation for gender equality: Ceremony marking the International Women’s Day

Under the theme, “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”, a ceremony to commemorate the International Women’s Day 2023 was observed in the city hall of Myitkyina in Kachin State on 7th March.

At the ceremony, the children from No.1 nursery school entertained with Mingalabar song. Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan said that as the participation of women in the country's population is more than 52 percent, women participation is very important in implementing politics, economy and social objectives, equitable development throughout the country and the development of human society.

The Chief Minister called for all to participate in elimination of discrimination against women in various ways, having equal opportunities and implementation of strategic plans. Children from No.1 and 2 Nursery Schools performed beautiful dances. At the ceremony, Chairperson of the State Women’s Affairs Committee and the State Social Affairs Minister spoke words of thanks. Officials also presented cash to the nursery school children.
