Injured Palestinians treated at Nasser hospital in southern Gaza

Injured Palestinians, including children, were treated at Nasser hospital in Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip. Fighting continued to rage in the besieged coastal enclave after Israeli troops were expanding operations in the Khan Yunis area. Hamas sources said at least 11 people were killed overnight in Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip.  

On Wednesday, the leader of Hamas visited Egypt as hopes grew that Israel and the Palestinian militant group may be inching towards another truce and hostage release deal.

The UN Security Council was set to vote on a resolution calling for a pause in the conflict, after two previous votes were delayed as members wrangled over wording. Malaysia announced it was barring Israeli-flagged cargo ships from docking at its ports in response to Israel's actions in Gaza.
