Infrastructure Development: Better connectivity in Kachin State

In Kachin State, the second phase of the Nan Paung Airport Detour Road was commissioned into service on Saturday, in honor of the 77th anniversary of Union Day. The State Road Department constructed a 2-mile-long and 24-ft-wide road section with a budget allotment of over 1 billion kyats by the state in the 2023-2024 fiscal year.

During the opening ceremony, Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan urged all to strive for socio-economic development, utilizing the new facility. The road serves as the second entrance road to Myitkyina, connecting the Shwebo-Myitkyina Road near Shadaung Village to the Myitkyina Detour Road near Technological University.

The first phase, a 6-mile 3-furlong long section, was upgraded to a concrete facility during the 2022-2023 fiscal year. Similarly, the Myitkyina Entrance Road Section of the Shwebo-Myitkyina Road was upgraded to an asphalt concrete facility, with a budget allotment of over 413 million kyats.

This upgrade expanded the road from an 18-ft facility to a 24-ft wide one. Additionally, the Arsar - Nan Kwe inter-village road was commissioned into service on the same day. The State Rural Development Department constructed the road, utilizing more than 558 million kyats in budget allotment. The new road is a 1.61-kilometer-long concrete facility and will benefit over 4,000 people from Nan Kwe and Arsar Villages.
