Industry Sector: Union Minister attends 13thIndustrial Trade Fair in Russia

To attend the 13th Industrial Trade Fair, Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than arrived in Yekaterinbur of the Russian Federation on Monday and they were welcomed by Deputy Minister for International Economy and Communications of Sverdlovsk Region.

On Tuesday, the Union Minister attended the opening ceremony of the 13th Industrial Trade Fair and participated in Panel Discussion on Sustainable Manufacturing Strategies and the Building Economic Relations and Protecting Your Own Manufacturer.

Union Minister Dr. Charlie than also discussed matters on including domestic production and sufficient consumption, export and steel production sectors between Myanmar and the Russian Federation. He said Myanmar is promoting the local industrial production for domestic sufficiency and the surplus will be exported to neighboring countries.  

Myanmar and Russia have similar geographic background with rich resources like mineral ores for steel production. Myanmar is now implementing the steel plants project with the technical assistance of Russia federation.

For the human resource development, Myanmar and Russia have the scholar exchange programs especially engineering subjects, maritime engineering subjects, aeronautical engineering subjects and other subjects.

Later the day, the Union Minister together with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and ministers and ambassadors attended a dinner hosted by the Sverdlovsk Region Governor.
