Industrial Development: MOI Union Minister tours in Mandalay Region

Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than on October 17th held a meeting with Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung and cabinet members at the Regional Government Office.

The meeting discussed the plans for development of Yadanapon Industrial Zone, sufficiency of edible oil and progress of cotton industry.

On separate occasion, the Union Minister met with the staff under the ministry and explained the work undertakings for MSME development, benefiting the efforts of poverty reduction by creating more employment opportunities for locals.

On the 18th, the Union Minister visited the No.2 Industrial Training School (Mandalay) and inspected the arrangements for opening of Garment Training School with the technical assistance of China.

On arrival at December Dairy Cow Factory in Pyin Oo Lwin, the Union Minister heard reports on the plans for construction of Dairy Factory and its products. He instructed to carry out the production process, following the Good Manufacturing Practices, for food safety of the consumers.

The Union Minister later arrived at the Pyin Oo Lwin Branch Research Department, and viewed the preparation for opening of laboratory for testing MSME products.

In meeting with the staff, the Union Minister instructed for implementation of the facility in accordance with the Good Laboratory Practices and soonest opening of the Food Safety Management Training Course.

On the 19th, the Union Minister visited No.7 Garment Factory in Myittha and instructed the staff to boost production for import substitution and to make constant monitoring for quality control of the products.

At No.8 Garment Factory in Yamethin, the Union Minister observed the grinding of oil crops, using solar power energy, and instructed for systematic operation of trial processes and once completed, the technology will be handed over to the MSME entrepreneurs so as to increase production of edible oil for local sufficiency.
