

A ceremony of handing over the No.8 Industrial Training School (Thaton) was held at the Ministry of Industry on Wednesday with the attendance of the Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. KanZaw, Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than, Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw, Directors General, Managing Directors and Deputy Directors General of the Ministry of Industry, Deputy Head of Mission of India to Myanmar Mr. Ashish Sharma, Liaison Officer Ms. Yadav, General Manager of HMT (International) Ltd. Mr. Y.K. Vaish and concerned officials.
At the ceremony, a video clip featuring implementation processes of No.8 Industrial Training School (Thaton) was screened. Then, the Union Minister for Industry delivered an opening speech stressing that No.8 Industrial Training School (Thaton) was jointly established by Myanmar and HMT (International) Ltd. Of India, and it will benefit the Myanmar’s industrial sector by providing modern technologies courses.
It’s also the 8th achievement of the Ministry of Industry in Myanmar’s TVET sector development process and the very first Rubber technology course will be offered at the school. No.8 Industrial Training School (Thaton) is also the first industrial training school opened in lower Myanmar.
In his part, the Indian Deputy Head of Mission said that India has been providing necessary assistance in establishing No.4 Industrial Training School (Pakokku), No.6 Industrial Training School (Myingyan) and No. 8 Industrial Training School (Thaton) for the development of Myanmar’s industrial sector, creating job opportunities and improving the quality of the products.
Likewise, tasks are being carried out to open No.7 Industrial Training School (Monywa). He added that Indian Government will continue support Myanmar in developing industrial sector. Then, the General Manager of HMT International Ltd and the Director General of the Directorate of Industrial Collaboration expressed words of gratitude.
It was followed by the signing of handing over the No.8 Industrial Training School. It's reported that Rubber Technology, CNC, Machinist, Electrician, Welder and IT courses will be provided at the school. 2 short-term skills-based training courses were already conducted at the school and plans are underway to open regular 1 year training courses during 2024.
