Preparations are underway for Indonesia's Independence Day on August 17th, which is set to be held in the country's future capital city of Nusantra but many buildings and facilities are still under construction.

President Joko Widodo said the number of guests for the event has been reduced from 8,000 to 1,300 due to a limited capacity to provide food and accommodation. Widodo resurrected a long-shelved plan to relocate the capital soon after taking office in 2019. Borneo Island’s east coast was chosen as the new site of a capital, Nusantara.
