Indonesia, Canada teams up in sustainable energy transition

Indonesia and Canada have agreed to cooperate in sustainable energy transition and human capital development, with Canada allocating 91.4 million US dollars to support Indonesian government programs. Of the 91.4 million US dollars, around 81.4 million consists of a soft loan, and 10 million is a grant.

The National Development Planning Minister appreciated Canada’s support in the just and sustainable energy transition. He said that the cooperation not only covered funding but also knowledge and technology transfer to achieve the target of net-zero emissions by 2060.

Apart from energy transition, Canada also offered its expertise and technology in carbon management and strengthening the critical mineral supply chain, including lithium, which supports the battery industry.
