Indian journalist assaulted by railway police in Uttar Pradesh

An Indian journalist said on Tuesday he was assaulted by railway police while covering the derailment of a goods trains in India's northern Uttar Pradesh state. A video shows Government Railway Police officers beating Amit Kumar, who was later locked in a jail cell. Uttar Pradesh police suspended two of its officers while it launched an investigation, Deputy Inspector General said. The 2019 World Press Freedom Index ranks India 140 out 180 countries and regions.
