Indian women cricket team created history, lifting their first-ever ICC World Cup trophy after defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final at Navi Mumbai. The team secured the coveted trophy in its third attempt, having previously lost the 2005 final to Australia and the 2017 summit clash to England.

In the 2025 final, Shafali Verma scored a brilliant 87 off 78 balls, while Deepti Sharma contributed a run-a-ball 58, helping India post 298 for 7 in 50 overs after being invited to bat first. In the chase, Laura Wolvaardt led South Africa’s reply with a captain’s knock of 101 but they were all out for 246 in 45.3 overs.
