India welcomes the sacred month of Sawan

The sacred Hindu month of Sawan, dedicated to Lord Shiva, began on Friday, ushering in a period of intense spiritual devotion across India. Sawan, is dedicated to Lord Shiva, is marked by devotion, fasting, and prayers, especially on Mondays called Sawan Somvar. Across northern and central India, devotees visit temples early, offering milk, water, Bael leaves, and carrying decorated Kanwars filled with holy Ganga water to Shiva shrines.
