India strengthens maritime cooperation

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Sunday attended the 8th Indian Ocean Conference in Oman.  Jaishankar emphasized India’s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and ensuring a stable and prosperous Indian Ocean region, according to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). During the visit, Jaishankar held bilateral talks with Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi.

Both leaders reviewed the “full spectrum of India-Oman relations” and discussed ways to enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest, the MEA said. On the sidelines, Dr. Jaishankar also engaged in discussions with his counterparts from Brunei, Bangladesh, Iran, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Mauritius, and Nepal, focusing on trade, security, and maritime cooperation. Dr. Jaishankar ’s visit to Oman sets the stage for further strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation.
