India ramps up flood rescue efforts as death toll rises to 75

The death toll in the ongoing floods in India's northeastern state of Assam has risen to 75, officials said on Wednesday. The State Chief Minister flagged off the Relief Materials Trucks to the affected areas. The state government has also increased the ex-gratia assistance for families of flood victims and eased the norms for claiming the compensation.

Multiple agencies, including the military, fire services personnel and civil volunteers, are engaged in rescue and relief operations.
