


Doctors and nurses across India are on strike for 24 hours after the brutal rape and death of a female colleague. The case has sparked widespread anger in the country. Thousands of doctors and other protesters have taken to the streets again today to protest violence against women.
The Indian Medical Association called on medical staff to go on a 24-hour strike yesterday, after doctors briefly stopped working last week. It is estimated that more than a million doctors and nurses have responded to the call. Hospitals across India have been closed for a day since 6am on Saturday, with only emergency cases being treated.
