India, EU to resume free trade agreement

Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal recently underlined that both sides are determined to work towards a balanced and mutually beneficial agreement. He noted that India is emerging as a key engine of the global economy, and that Europe’s technology and scale will complement India’s growth story.

The 13th round of trade talks was held in September with the participation of Goyal, the European Commissioner for Trade, and the Agricultural Commissioner of the European Commission. The EU has described its partnership with India as “consequential for the long haul,” stressing that it can help facilitate each other’s rise while managing differences.
