India celebrates birth anniversary of Sardar Patel

India on Friday celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, country's first Home Minister of post Independence in 1947. To mark the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat and took a ‘pledge of unity’. Modi administered the National Unity Day pledge to participants at the celebrations.

Through this pledge, participants reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the unity, integrity, and security of the nation. Modi also announced the release of a special commemorative coin and stamp as a tribute.
