India is celebrating the 2nd National Space Day on Sunday, marking the Chandrayaan-3 mission's success on this day in 2023. The day commemorates the soft landing of Vikram Lander on the lunar surface, making India the fourth country to land on the moon and the first near the southern pole.

It was followed by the deployment of Pragyan Rover, and the landing site was named ‘Shiv Shakti’ point. This year’s theme is ‘Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan: Ancient Wisdom to Infinite Possibilities’, highlighting India’s journey in space from historical roots to future missions. August 23 was officially declared as National Space Day in 2023.
