India and Qatar signed key MoUs on double taxation avoidance

In a significant diplomatic gesture, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally received Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani on his state visit. During bilateral talks, India and Qatar signed key MoUs on double taxation avoidance and fiscal transparency.

With bilateral trade surpassing $14 billion in 2023-24, Qatar remains India’s largest LNG supplier, while India exports food, textiles, and engineering products. The meeting also highlighted India-Qatar’s historical ties and future trade potential, emphasizing growth in AI and technology sectors as well as collaboration in non-oil sectors and infrastructure development.
