India’s first ‘Solar on Track’ initiative

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has introduced India’s first ‘Solar on Track’ project in Duhai. This groundbreaking pilot system spans 70 metres and features solar panels installed directly on the railway tracks.

Designed to generate 17,500 kilowatt-hours of energy annually, the system is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 16 tonnes each year. The initiative reflects NCRTC’s broader commitment to sustainability and its ambitious goal of sourcing 70 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources.
