Monday marked the anniversary of the launch of the Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app, a key component of India’s digital payment landscape. The app, which uses the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), was first introduced on December 30, 2016, by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

BHIM was developed with the aim of facilitating quick, easy and secure transactions, contributing to India's vision of financial inclusion and a digitally empowered society. Over the years, it has become a notable example of India’s growing Digital Public Infrastructure, positioning the country as a global leader in digital payment solutions.
