Independence Day preparations in Indonesia

President Joko Widodo will lead the roll-call of honour and quiet reflection in Memorial Park as part of the series of activities to commemorate Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day which falls on August 17th.

The Minister of Public Works and Housing said the construction of Memorial Park in Nusantara, the country new capital city in East Kalimantan, had been expected to be completed by August 16. The memorial park is built as part of honor to respect for Indonesia’s founding fathers.

The memorial park area covers more than two thousand square meters consisting of an altar area of more than one thousand six hundred square meters and stair access area of more than three hundred square meters it also equipped with road and landscape infrastructure the open area of memorial park can accommodate up to one thousand people.
