The security measures have been carried out by strictly abiding the Rule of Engagement (ROE), while priority has been paid to avoid harm to the civilian in line with the international agreements.

The announcement has been made in response the Statement of Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths concerning the deaths of civilians near Moso Village in Phruso Township of Kayah State on December 24.

It explained that the security forces asked seven vehicles for security check near Moso Village, but instead, they drove away while firing with small guns. At the same time, about 10 terrorists, hiding in the hilly areas near the village, launched attack with the use of RPG, launchers and small guns.

During the exchange of fire, KNPP and PDF terrorists and some new recruits for attending the terrorist training have been arrested together with 39 assorted arms and ammunition, and related items. The seven vehicles that loaded fuel and foodstuff were destroyed by fire. It has been exposed that they are the same group that launched rocket to the passenger plane at Loikaw Airport.
