Inception Workshop: MoNREC UM attended opening ceremony of workshop

The Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi attended the opening ceremony of Inception Workshop of (MLC-Medicinal Plants Project “Conservation and Sustainable Use of Medicinal Plants in Mekong River Basin of Myanmar held at Ingyin Hall of Department of Forestry Headquatters in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on 19th March.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said that this is a project being implemented with the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund 2023, the project period is 2 years from October 2023 to September 2025 and the project will be implemented in Tachilek, Mong Yaung and Kengtung Districts of Shan State (East).

Researching biodiversity of medicinal plants in the project area, documenting the natural medicinal plants used by indigenous ethnic groups, rare and endangered species, indigenous species, protect and preserve economically important species, the establishment of a database system will be implemented to exchange the results of research findings with the countries of the Mekong region and ASEAN countries etc.

The Union Minister also inspected office work basic computer training given to the staff members, work undertaking to release 2025 Forest Resources Assessment by using Remote Sensing and GIS of satellite image information and Forest Resources Assessment work and gave necessary instruction.
