Improving socio-economic life: 30-ton rice mill opened in Mong Yaung Township

According to the guidance of SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing during his inspection to Shan Sate (East) from 14th to 17th February in 2022 to provide the construction of modern rice mills and production of rice based value-added products, the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development has formed Taw Win Mine Yaung General Trading Cooperative Society Ltd., in Mong Yaung Township and the construction of 30-ton rice mill was started in May 2022 and the mill was operated as a trail in the end of July.

The opening ceremony of rice mill was held on 21st August in Nam Yun village in Mong Yaung Township. At the event, Shan State Chief Minister Dr Kyaw Tun said that Taw Win Mong Yaung General Trading Cooperative Society implemented 30-ton rice mill under the supervision of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development.

The rice mill is aimed to export rice instead of selling, to increase the income of rural people and create job opportunities. Deputy Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myint Soe said that the rice mill was built for improving socio-economic life of ethnic people in line with the guidance of the Head of State and called for long-term durability and operating under the cooperative work programs.

Later, the Shan State Chief Minister, the Deputy Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development, the Deputy Commander of Triangle Region Command and the Chairman of Taw Win Mong Yaung General Trading Cooperative Society Ltd., formally opened the rice mill and viewed around it. The Deputy Minister and party then met the staffs from the Department of Rural Development in Mong Yaung Township and fulfilled the needs on the reports of the staffs.
