





Mrauk U is of great cultural importance to the people, and is the location of many important archeological sites. Mrauk-U stood the independent kingdoms and had different names and different eras such as Dhanyawadi , Waithali , Lemro , Laung Kyet and Mrauk-U is a city where 290 dynasties reigned.
Su Taung Pyae Maha Kyan Pagoda, Koe-thaung Temple and Shite-thaung Temple are famous and noteworthy religious buildings in Mrauk U Township. The pilgrimages can visit into the grotto of the Shite-thaung temple and paid homage the Buddha Images on each side.

Shite-thaung Pagoda festival are regularly held on 2nd- 6th of May but the 95th time at Shite-thaung pagoda festival held at the end of the Month of April this year. Myanmar submitted draft of Mrauk-U World Heritage Site to UNESCO.
“My Hidden City”, a documentary film about Rakhine’s ancient cultural capital Mrauk-U, won the award for the best short documentary award at French Film Festival.It is learnt that many local and foreign tourists have visited since April to Mrauk-U town.
