





The e-ID system Work Committee held a work coordination meeting to implement e-ID system which is fundamental for implementing e-Government system in Myanmar was held at the Ministry of Immigration and Population in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.
In the meeting, Chairman of thee-ID System Work Committee Union Minister for Immigration and Population U MyintKyaing said that the e-ID system is essential for the e-Government process as well as a foundation for national development activities. In implementing e-ID system, the biographic data and the Biometric Data of citizens aged 10 years and above residing in the country, associate citizens, naturalized citizens, permanent residence (PR) and permanent tax payment foreigners are collected, put in the database and then set each unique ID number including 10 digits.
Among those who have received a UID number, the National ID will be issued to all those who qualify as citizens according to the law. In changing the process of personal data of citizens from the paper to digital system, the experts from the ministry, military service personnel, experts from related ministries and Myanmar Computer Federation made an all-out effort to successfully implement the e-ID system.
The process has been implemented as a Pilot Project in the Ministries of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, government organizations, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Bago region starting from 14th November 2022. The Union Minister also discussed progress of works fore-ID system and future programs. Officials also reported implementation of e-ID system, plans for tender bidding, the needs of technical devices, work procedures and future plans. In response to the report, Union Minister U MyintKyaing coordinated essentials and called for working together for the task which is essential for the state.
