




The meeting (1/2023) of the Work Committes on the Implementation of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2025 was held at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.
Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Kan Zaw, Deputy Ministers from 22 Working Committees, permanent secretaries, diector-generals and officials, totaling 60 joined the meeting.
At the meeting, the Union Minister said that the meeting is held to connect with the global and local economy for the betterment of Myanmar's economy and to implement effectively implementation of AEC activities that were carried out in 2022 and the activities in 2023.
He then added that 16 economic work programs to be prioritized by ASEAN in 2023 and these tasks are important for all ASEAN member states to reconnect the market in post COVID-19. It also includes the work programs to be carried out for the sustainable development in the region.
All needs to participate as some tasks will have to be cooperated by respective sectors. The AEC has adopted 118 tasks to be implemented year by year and he said that through regional cooperation, the country's development will be accelerated.
Later, officials reported on implementation of AEC in 2022 and the works to be implemented in 2023 and future work programs.
After that, the Work Committees reported on cooperation for the tax in the region, forming the working groups to practice good management and procedures, cooperation in energy, natural environment and mining sectors for sustainable development, moving skilled workers on ASEAN region according to MoU, regional cooperation for relaxation in trade and service sectors, intellectual property right, private, finance and digital sectors, consumer affairs, development gap, statistics, SME enterprises, basic infrastructures and energy sector.
The Union Minister then coordinated essentials and urged to cooperate for the national interests of the State. Myanmar formed the Work Committe on the Implementation of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2025 with 22 work committes to carry out effectively AEC tasks.
