Imperial family meets Nagasaki atomic-bomb survivors

Japan's Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako and their daughter, Princess Aiko, have met with atomic-bomb survivors at an elderly care facility in Nagasaki City. The Imperial family has been visiting Nagasaki Prefecture in western Japan since Friday.

On Saturday, the family talked with eight people at the nursing home, where more than 300 survivors live. The Imperial couple and the princess bent their knees while gently addressing each of the survivors, who spoke about their experiences. The Emperor expressed his sympathy for their hardships.
