Illegal Trade: timbers, industrial materials and vehicles confiscated

The on-duty teams supervised by the Customs Department conducted inspections on 3 August and impounded a Nissan headed to Mandalay from Chinshwehaw, carrying 1,300 kilogrammes of various sizes of men’s socks at the Yepu permanent checkpoint, 4,300 kilogrammes of white powder 300 from a container at the MITT Port, 16 kinds of goods including 10 sets of Lubi monoblack pump and 44 kinds of goods including the LG parking management computer from two containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port Terminal and 50 lady handbags from luggage at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk). Additionally, a total of 7.05 tonnes of illegal teak, 0.56 tonne of illegal hardwood and 3.57 tonnes of other illegal timbers were seized in Bago district on 5 August.

A total of seven arrests of illegal trade were made on 3 and 5 August, with an estimated value of over 464.049 Kyats, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
