Illegal trade: Timbers, goods, vehicles seized

Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, illegal trade is effectively prevented and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

On 1st August, 15.756 tons of illegal teakwood and 0.190 tons of hard wood in Pyay District of Bago Region, on 2nd August, , 3.712 tons of illegal teakwood and 2.849 tons of other timbers in Taungoo District were seized.

Similarly on 2nd August, one Nissan Murano vehicle without license at Yadanapon Bridge Combined Checkpoint in Sagaing Region, 9 types of goods including 2 Camel brand washing machines made in China, 5240 sets of Man Slipper, 150 kilograms of Break Shoe from 3 vehicles driven from Mongla to Mandalay at Kywe-Tat-Sone Checkpoint in Mandalay Region, 4011 kilos of Happy Rose Tissue made in China from 3 containers at Myanma Industrial Port, 830 units of Plastic Pallets made in China from a container at Asia World Container checkpoint, 7 types of goods including 1584 sets of Fuse, 5700 units of Mini Helmet from two containers at Htee Tan Port, 26 types of goods including 5 Medical Device - Cholesterol Assay Kits made in China at Yangon Airport Warehouse were confiscated.

Therefore, 15 arrests (estimated value of 326 million Kyats) were made on 1st and 2nd August, 2024, according to the committee.
