Illegal trade Timbers, foodstuffs, smuggled materials and confiscated

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.

A Mitsubishi Fuso and a Hyundai van, headed to Myawady from Yangon carrying 200 bags of white sesame and 300 bags of peanut on the Moppalin-Sutpanu-Ingabo detour and a Higer bus, headed to Yangon from Hpa-an, carrying 7,560 bags of Wai Wai instant rice vermicelli on 1 August, a Nissan Diesel vehicle, headed to Hpa-an from Myawady, carrying 250 bags of Xuemei Monosodium Glutamate at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) checkpoint, a total of 14.494 tonnes of illegal teak and 3.103 tonnes of hardwood in Bago and Nyaunglebin districts on 2 August.

A total of eight arrests of illegal trade were made on 1 and 2 August, with an estimated value of 199.048 million Kyats, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
