Illegal trade: Timbers, foodstuffs, auto parts and vehicles seized

On 19 April, 21 kinds of goods (including 510 kilogrammes of bamboo chopsticks and 160 100-A breakers) that were stacked on the side of the road over the Sinphyu checkpoint in Muse township were confiscated.

On 20 April, 18 kinds of goods (including 337 110-V used refrigerators) from five vehicles were captured near the Nyaungkhashay X-Ray checkpoint. Four kinds of foodstuffs and consumer goods and agricultural material from a vehicle were seized by an inspection team led by a police officer from Phayagyi Police Station. a total of 115.770 tonnes of illegal timbers was seized in Myitkyina township.

On 21 April, two kinds of goods (including 65 cartons of Chang beer) from a vehicle were nabbed at the Thanlwin Bridge combined checkpoint. Six kinds of goods (including foodstuffs and consumer goods) were captured at the Yadanabon combined checkpoint in Sagaing Township.

On 22 April, an unregistered Honda Fit vehicle was captured in Lanmadaw township of Yangon West District.

Therefore, 24 arrests (estimated value of 309.833 million Kyats) were made on four consecutive days from 19 to 22 April, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
