Illegal trade: Timbers, fashion items, foodstuff and vehicles seized

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.

On April 3 and 4, the on-duty inspection team at Mayanchaung Pemanent Checkpoint confiscated 4,000 Kilograms of Low Density PolyethylenePlastic Resin and Wai Wai Instant Rice Vermicelli in 35 paper boxes from a Hino Bus and CHENGLONG Tractor Head loaded them and headed to Yangon from Myawady.

On April 4, the Anti-Illegal trade task force at Yangon International Airport seized 10 sets of Charles & Keith shoes and 9 commodities including 1,200 bottles of Jamu Ajaib herbal medicines from the lugages of two fligts from Singapore and Malaysia. The on-duty team at Myanmar Industrial Port Container Checkpoint nabbed 4 kinds of goods including 20 Inverter Packing Boxes. The combined inspection team at Than Lwin Bridge (Mawlamyaing) Checkpoint seized foodstuff including 60 boxes of Lactasoy and 8 kinds of bycycle spare parts and a YUTONG Bus.

On 5th April, a combined team led by Kyauktada Township Forest Department confiscated 5.57 tonnes of timbers including teak, iron wood and other hard wood in Kyauktada Township.

Therefore, ten arrests (estimated value of 163.342 million Kyats) were made on April 3, 4 and 5, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
