Illegal trade: Timbers, electrical equipment, vehicles seized

Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, illegal trade is effectively prevented and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

On 2nd June, an unregistered Honda Fit was seized at Shwebo University checkpoint in Sagaing Region, On 3rd June, an unregistered Toyota Mark II at the Ayeyawady Bridge checkpoint of Magway Region, two vehicles loaded undeclared goods, including electrical equipment and car parts travelling from Mandalay to Yangon at Ywathagyi Dry Port were confiscated.

On 3rd and 4th June, illegal teak, hardwood, and other timbers in Bago, Toungoo, and Nattalin districts, a Toyota Hilux near the Shwethanlwin tollgate in Phayagyi of Bago Region were seized. The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that 9 arrests were made on 2th and 3rd and 4th June , with an estimated value of 137 million Kyats.
