Illegal trade: Timbers, electrical accessories, car parts, vehicles seized

On 15 March, 5,000 kilogrammes of High Density Polyethylene, a Nissan Diesel Tractor-Head and one trailer were seized on Yangon Hpa-an-Myawady highway.

On 15 and 16 March, four products including 13,080 Jfresh LED UFO light bulbs from five containers, 288 Toy small Remote Control cars and 20,680 thread rolls, 28,729 ceramic tiles were seized at the Asia World container checkpoint and 300 kilogrammes of Potassium Hydroxide in one container at the Myanmar International Port (Thilawa).

One Dji Mini 2 Drone from inside the passenger’s luggage was confiscated at foreign (departure) terminal of Mandalay International Airport.

On 17 March, 27,500 kilogrammes of Plastic Sheet MATTE in two containers and 50 kilogrammes of balancing shaft gear were nabbed at the container checkpoint of Myanmar Industrial Port.

4.5 tonnes of illegal sawn teak timber and more than 3 tonnes of illegal Dipterocarpus in Nyaunglebin and Padaung Townships were seized.

No 2 Traffic Police Branch seized one unlicensed Toyota Probox near the junction of Insein Road and Kan Road in Yangon Region.

More than 7 tonnes of illegal teak and a Nissan Diesel Truck carrying these logs were confiscated in Hlegu Township.

On 18 March, a combined team led by the Ottarathiri Township Forest Department nabbed 3.206 tonnes of illegal teak from a vehicle near Nay Pyi Taw-Magway-Kanpya intersection.

Therefore, 18 arrests (estimated value of 281.408 million Kyats) were made from 15 to 18 March, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
