Illegal trade: Timbers, consumer goods, electronics, vehicles seized

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.

On 19 April, 19 kinds of goods including 193 car tyres (used) were confiscated from two Nissan diesel tractor heads and two trailers near Nyaungkhashay X-Ray checkpoint in Bago Region.

A total of 4.792 tonnes of illegal teak was captured from a Mitsubishi Canter truck in Hlegu Township.

On 20 April, an unregistered vehicle seizure group of No 2 Traffic Police Force seized an unregistered Honda Fit car in Thanlyin Township. 78,000 kilogrammes of super cornice compound EC-98 and 50 office desks from two containers were nabbed at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint and two kinds of goods including one set of EI6550 DV standard x-ray baggage scanner parts from luggage at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk) and four kinds of goods including 269 Grace ceramic toilet seats and 99000 kilogrammes of plastic resins from two containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port Terminal container checkpoint. Four kinds of goods including 19 Dynam batteries from an Aung Zeya microbus heading to Mandalay from Muse were seized at Yepu permanent checkpoint in Shan State.

Therefore, 14 arrests (estimated value of 491.739 Kyats) were made on 19 and 20 April, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
