Illegal trade: Timbers, computer accessories, vehicles confiscated

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.

On 23 and 31 March, an on-duty team under the management of the Customs Department captured 80 Gpon Olt 8 Pon Ports and 840 kilogrammes of metal mouse traps at the Myanmar International Port Terminals (Thilawa).

On 25 March, the Lashio Township Customs Department inspection team near the oriental highway tollgate nabbed a total of 0.8516 tonne of suspected gum-kino tree and 0.9632 tonne of suspected teak that were illegally carried from a Toyotetsu bus heading to Muse from Mandalay. On 31 March, a total of 23.08 tonnes of illegal teak, 8.51 tonnes of hardwood and 3.42 tonnes of other timbers was seized in Nyaunglebin, Daik-U, Pyu and Letpadan townships.

Therefore, eight arrests (estimated value of over 180.984 million Kyats) were made on 23, 25 and 31 March, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
