Illegal Trade: Timbers, Auto Parts, Vehicles And Machines Confiscated

The effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.

On 7 August, a team led by the head of the Lashio Township Customs Department nabbed LED light bulbs, car parts, motorbike parts and used sewing machines from a Hino heading from Muse to Mandalay. On 8 August, an on-duty team seized clothes and consumer goods that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a 22-wheel truck near the 45th milepost on the Yangon Hpa-An-Myawady Road, and motorbike parts, three-wheel baby bikes and baby accessories that were different from the Import Declaration (ID) from a 12-wheel truck.

Also on 8 August, an on-duty combined inspection team confiscated a Hino Dutro Truck, a Toyota HiAce and two heavy machineries that were taken out over three years after filling the Import Declaration (ID) at the container terminal of Thilawa International Port.

Similarly, illegal sawn teaks from two trucks on the Yangon-Pyay Road in Taikkyi Township were confiscated.

On 9 August, illegal teak parquets from two vehicles at the 0 Milepost on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in Hlegu Township were captured.

In addition, a team led by the Myanmar Police Force impounded an unregistered a three-wheel motorbike in Ayataw township, Sagaing Region.

Also illegal timbers were caught in Bago, Pyay and Thayawady districts.

An inspection team seized an unregistered AD Van and a Hilux without a licence in Kyaukdaga and Daik-U townships.

Therefore, 20 arrests estimated at over 360 million Kyats were made on four consecutive days from 7 to 10 August, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
