Illegal Trade: Teak, Petroleum, Restricted Chemicals, Vehicles Confiscated

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.

On 22 August, An on-duty team confiscated over 10,000 kilogrammes of Iron Pipe that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a MAN 22-wheel truck and a Volvo 22-wheel truck heading from Muse to Mandalay at the Yepu Permanent Checkpoint. On 23 August, a combined team captured 124 gallons of illegal crude oil in Minbu Township. In addition, over 55 tonnes of illegal teak were seized.

A combined on-duty team captured 170 litres of restricted chemicals – suspected Toluene liquid from a Toyota HiAce car and industrial materials and consumer goods that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Nissan Diesel car at the 16th-Mile Kyaukchaw Checkpoint of Mandalay Region An inspection team seized 86 jerry cans of edible oil and instant noodles and snacks without official documents from a Sunlong bus heading from Myawady to Yangon at the Phayagyi Tollgate.

On 25 August, illegal teak was impounded in the Yoma protected forest in Yedashe Township. Therefore, 28 arrests (approximately 255.58 Million Kyats) were made on 22, 23 and 25 August, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
