Illegal trade: Teak, consumer goods and vehicles confiscated

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.

On 4 October, an on-duty team led by the Bago Township Customs Department confiscated 170 old electric bicycles that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Nissan Diesel car heading from Myawady to Yangon near the Phayagyi Shwethanlwin Tollgate.

Afterwards, a combined team under the Ayeyawady Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force captured an unregistered Toyota Wish car at the Myatto junction on the Pathein-Monywa Road in Pathein Township. On 5 October, the Hteedan () Container Checkpoint nabbed bicycle parts that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a container.

On 6 October, a combined inspection team seized a total of 3.83 tonnes of illegal teak in Yedashe township of Toungoo district. Similarly, 720 litres of edible oil that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Nissan Diesel truckĀ  heading from Myawady to Yangon at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint in Mon State captured.

On 5 and 6 October, a combined inspection team confiscated 2,460 litres of edible oil without official documents in Myawady Township and 65 cartons of apples without official documents from a vehicle at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint.

Therefore, ten arrests estimated at 138.043 million Kyats were made on three consecutive days from 4 to 6 October, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
