Illegal trade items seized: Illegal timbers, motorcycles without licenses seized

The effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trades under the law supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.

On 19 February, a joint inspection team under the management of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted a surprise inspection of one Kenbo-125 motorcycle without a license worth about 150, 000 Kyats and one Toyonax-125 motorcycle without a license worth about 150,000 Kyats in Homalin Township. Action is taken under the Import and Export Law.

Similarly, the Bago Region Forestry Department and joint teams under the management of the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force reportedly inspected forest areas. A total of 15.96 tons of illegal timber estimated worth about 4,46 million Kyats was seized in the forest reserves in Toungoo and Thayawady districts and action is taken under the Forest Law. From these cases, a total of five arrests were made on 19 February, according the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee stated.
