Illegal trade: Industrial materials, timbers, vehicles seized

Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are continued effectively by the law.

On 17 November, the combined teams impounded industrial materials from luggage at the Yangon International Airport and a Hino truck carrying consumer goods at the Mayanchaung permanent check-point and an unregistered vehicle and 11 unregistered motorbikes in Pathein, Myaungmya and Maubin Districts.

On 18 November, the combined teams seized illegal timbers weighing 0.509 tonne in Toungoo District, an unregistered Honda Fit at the Yadanabon bridge combined checkpoint in Sagaing Township and three unregistered vehicles and two unregistered motorbikes in Mawlamyine and Thaton Districts.

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 22 arrests on 17 and 18 November, seizing illegal goods worth approximately 143.7 million Kyats, it’s reported.
