Illegal trade: Illegal timbers, wild animals, vehicle confiscated

On 6 January, the on-duty teams under the supervision of the Customs Department seized five kinds of goods including 600 12V 12Ah batteries which did not declare in the Import Declaration from a container at Asia World container checkpoint.

Similarly, an on-duty team under the supervision of the Customs Department in Bago Region seized 1,080 litres of RBD Palm Oil labeling Prawn Hornet which did not declare in the Import Declaration and a lorry carrying that RBD Palm Oil in heading from Myawady to Yangon near Shwe Than lwin toll gate in Bago Township.

A combined inspection team under the management of the Bago Region Forest Department seized 5.30 tonnes of illegal teak, Kanyin and ironwood timbers in Thayawady and Toungoo districts.

In addition, a combined inspection team under the management of the Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force seized illegal teak and 120 heads of nine species of wild animals and birds and a vehicle at 16th-mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint.

Hence, eight cases at an estimated value of over 87.842 million Kyats were made on 6 January 2023, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
