Illegal trade: Illegal timbers, industrial materials, vehicles confiscated

On 20 April, 12,000 kilogrammes of corn seeds were captured from a Nissan UD car drove along the Asia highway road without going through the Myawady Trade Zone in Kayin State.

On 21 April, 106,400 kilogrammes of galvanized iron sheet in coil were seized from four vehicles and two trailers on No 3 road in Mingaladon Township.

797,325 kilogrammes of H-Beam construction materials were confiscated at the Myanmar International Terminals Thilawa (MITT) Port.

A total of 8.749 tonnes of illegal timbers was captured in Yekyi Township.

On 23 April, a total of 2.226 tonnes of illegal timbers were nabbed in Mindon Township of Magway Region and an unregistered motorbike near Magway Police Station.

Therefore, 16 arrests (estimated value of over 1.438 billion Kyats) were made on 20, 21 and 23 April, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
