Illegal trade: Illegal goods, timbers, vehicles seized

Supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, action is being taken under the law against illicit trading across the nation.

On 14 June, an unregistered Toyota crown at the Rampu-Kyetpoungchan junction in Myitkyina Township of Kachin State, two Mitsubishi Fuso trucks heading to Yangon from Mandalay and to Yangon from Mongla, carrying six kinds of goods including 1,500 kilogrammes of single-use bed sheet at the Ywathagyi Dry Port of Yangon Region were seized.

On 16th and 17th June, illegal teak weighing 1.617 tonnes and illegal hardwood weighing 1.809 tonnes in Bago and Toungoo districts, an unregistered Toyota Caldina in Indakaw (အင္းတေကာ္) town and illegal teak weighing 3.393 tonnes, illegal hardwood weighing 3.225 tonnes and other illegal timbers weighing 0.479 tonne in Toungoo District were confiscated.

Therefore, nine arrests (estimated value of 117.452 million Kyats) were made on 14, 16 and 17 June, according to the Committee.
